JoAnn Marrone

JoAnn Marrone, 93, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away October 18, 2024 in Pittsburg.

She was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Girard, KS the daughter of Joe and Juanita (Wilson) Veltri.

She graduated from Frontenac High School in Frontenac, KS with the Class of 1949. 

On April 7, 1950 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Marrone in Cardin, OK; he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1991.

JoAnn moved from Frontenac, KS to Miami, OK with her husband Bill, son John and daughter Cynthia in May of 1973. While living in Kansas she worked for Foodtown Stores Inc. in the accounting department.

She began her banking career with Miami Savings and Loan Association, as a loan clerk on Jan. 4, 1973. In 1979 she was promoted to loan officer and elected to corporate secretary.  She was elected the Vice President in 1994.

Jo Ann and Betty Mullen organized the Buskateers Travel Club in 1996.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac and Miami, OK; she was a member of the Altar Society, Red Hat Club and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include a son John (Susan) Marrone of Northport, AL; a daughter Cindy (Joe) Oberzan of West Mineral, KS; a sister Margaret Havens of Loch Lloyd MO; two grandchildren: Hailey (Lance) Hammond of Starkville, MS and Sean Marrone of Northport, AL two step grandchildren Mark (Marla) Oberzan of Scammon, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a step grandson Matt Oberzan.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Fr. Josh Evans as celebrant. Rosary will be recited before the service starting at 10 a.m. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the rosary begins. Burial will follow the Mass at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Altar Society. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS.
