J. D. Holloway

J. D. Holloway, 80, of Girard, Kansas died at 5:03 p.m., Wednesday, Apr. 27, 2022 in the Girard Medical Center.

J. D. was born Sept. 14, 1941 in Fort Scott, a son of John (Bus) and Opal (Leffler) Holloway.  He grew up and attended schools in Girard and graduated from Girard High School in 1959.

J. D. served in the US Army Reserves from 1964 until receiving his discharge in 1969.

He married Joy S. Kroenke on Sept. 26, 1965 in Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hepler, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

J. D. worked as a letter carrier in Girard from 1966 until retiring in 1992.  He worked as a bus driver for Girard School District #248 from 1993 until 2017.  He was a driver for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

He was a member, Trustee, and Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard.  He enjoyed his family, motorcycle riding, and camping.  He was a member of the Heart of America Motorcycle Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Joy, of Girard, are his daughters, Cynthia Naugle, and her husband, Tim, of Nixa, Missouri; Rebecca Young, and her husband, Kevin, of Marysville, Kansas; Jennefer Ragan, and her husband, John, of Pittsburg, Kansas; and Johnna Flack, and her husband, Rusty, of Girard; his grandchildren, Joshua Holloway of Girard; Rhian Flack of Girard; Jessa Roberts, and her husband, K. C., of Andover, Kansas; Leah Ragan of Wichita, Kansas; Kara Ragan of Pittsburg; Forrest Young, and his wife, Megan, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Spencer Young, and his wife, Caitlin, of Marysville; Nathan Naugle of Nixa; and Alexandra Light of Springfield; his brother, Tom Holloway, and his wife, Ethel, of Whitestown, Indiana; his sister, Barbara Jean Craft, and her husband, Jack, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

J. D. was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Christina Obenshain.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Apr. 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard with Pastor Jerry Hemmingson officiating.  Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Hepler.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
