Girard boys win Frontenac Invitational title

FRONTENAC, Kan. — Frontenac freshman Reece Franklin started her high school track and field career in style by setting two school records in her first meet last Friday at the Gorilla Relays inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.
In her second career and first home meet Tuesday, Franklin broke her own record by an inch in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 6 inches.
Franklin won the high jump with a mark certified an elite performance by MileSplit.
Franklin also finished fifth in the long jump at 15-4, third in the 300-meter hurdles in 49.90 seconds and ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay that finished third in 4:31, highlighting the Raiders’ performance in their own Frontenac Invitational.
Cera Schenck won the 3,200 with a time of 13:12 and finished third in the 1,600 in 5:57. Abby Albright placed fourth in the 1,600 in 6:14 and Nora Anderson also placed fourth in the 3,200 in 14:47. Anderson was also sixth in the 800 in 2:49.
Ava Lilly placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 106-2 and Marcie Gaddy also placed fourth in the shot put at 31-0.
The 4x800 placed fourth in 11:25 and the 4x100 fifth in 55.20.
On the boys side, sprinter Camden Ishimura finished second in the 200 in 23.45 and sixth in the 100 in 11.32. Alonzo Burke ran third in the 800 in 2:17 and sixth in the 400 in 54.49.
Wyatt Frazier placed fifth in the 110 hurdles in 16.70.
The 4x400 finished second in 3:38 and the 4x800 sixth in 9:32.
Kayden Chance led the jumpers with a third in the triple jump at 41-6. Brogan Smith placed fifth in the high jump at 5-8 and Vinny Collier took sixth in the long jump at 19-4 1/2.
Caleb Jameson finished second and Kruz Pickle fifth in the pole vault at 12-6 and 11-6, respectively. Kaden Long placed fifth in the javelin at 139-6 and Ethan Merrick fifth in the shot put at 44-4.
Frontenac placed third on the girls side with 86 points and fourth on the boys with 83.
 
GIRARD
On the boys side, Girard won titles in the 4x400 in 3:32 and the 4x800 in 8:42 on their way to a team title with 120 points.
Perrin Stevens won the high jump by clearing 6-0. Adairrius Valley placed fifth in the triple jump at 39-1 and sixth in the pole vault at 11-6.
William Bishop won the shot put at 52-5 1/2. Gannon Clark fired a throw of 150-1 to finish second in the javelin. Scott Moore and William Bishop finished third and sixth in the discus at 137-7 and 132-0.
Houston McGown won the 3,200 in 10:11 and Fletcher Ulbrich finished third in 10:37. Gavin Huber took second in the 1,600 in 5:01. Mason Adolph ran third in the 400 in 53.92.
On the girls side, Kennedy Keller and Natalia Onelio finished 1-2 in the 1,600 in 5:37 and 5:40, respectively, while Onelio won the 800 in 2:36.
Bailey Walker finished second in the 400 in 1:05.
Addison Bowman placed fourth in both the 100 and 300 hurdles in 17.96 and 50.40, respectively.
The 4x400 won first in 4:18, the 4x800 fifth in 11:55 and the 4x100 sixth in 55.80.
Marli Sisney and Maddie Coester tied for fourth in the high jump by clearing 4-8. Jeriah Adolph finished sixth in the triple jump at 30-0.
Lillian Ripper and Aydin Sisney finished second and fourth in the javelin at 109-9 and 102-1, respectively. Sisney also placed fourth in the discus at 89-5. Lainey Prince took second in the discus at 93-10.
Conner Hudson cleared 8-0 to finish third in the pole vault.
The Trojans finished a distant second on the girls side with 112 points. Labette County won the title with 176.75.
 
ST. MARY’S COLGAN
On the boys side, Klayton Adamson and Colton Smithhisler each finished second in their respective events. Adamson leaped 21-5 in the long jump and Smithhisler finished between Girard runners Houston McGown and Fletcher Ulbrich with a time of 10:23 in the 3,200.
Michael Vacek finished sixth in the 1,600 in 5:07 and the 4x800 ran fourth in 9:10.
The Panthers were eighth with 27.5 points.
On the girls side, Sarah Schibi finished third in the shot put at 31-8, but relays were the strength of the Panthers on Tuesday night and helped them finish seventh as a team with 44 points.
The 4x800 finished second in 11:07 and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays were fourth in 54.60 and 4:33, respectively.
Katie Paulie ran fourth in the 400 in 1:06 and sixth in the 100 hurdles in 18.91.
Kayla Hutchinson placed fifth in the triple jump at 30-4 and sixth in the long jump at 14-11 1/2.
 
SOUTHEAST
Jackie Robinson led the Lancers with a first place in the pole vault at 8-0. Aubri Smith placed fourth in the 200 in 28.10. Zakiyyah Dickinson finished sixth in the shot put at 30-1.
On the boys side, Emery Wilbert and Trey Sol Galindo each placed fourth in their respective events: Wilbert ran a 54.03 in the 400 and Galindo cleared 12-0 in the pole vault.
Tucker Sutton ran fifth in the 3,200 in 11:12.
The Lancer girls scored 27 points and the boys scored 18.5 in the 12-team meet.
