Ernestine "Ernie" Ruth Murray, 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was born on Sept. 28, 1938 in Arcadia, Kansas to James and Nova (Jones) Swezey.
She grew up in Arcadia, Kansas and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1955. After graduation she worked for an insurance company in Ft. Scott, Kansas. She married her husband Wilfred on July 28, 1962. She was a breast cancer survivor since 1991.
She enjoyed southern country gospel music and vacationing in Branson, Missouri with her family. Ernestine enjoyed collecting chickens and angels over the years. Family was her pride and joy, and she expressed her love for people constantly. She was a fun loving, goofy, and genuine person.
Ernestine is survived by her husband, Wilfred Murray; son Stan (Regina) Murray; grandchildren, Morgan Murray, Matthew Murray, Kole Murray and Anna Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Swezey Jr.; sister, Louetta Schwatken; and granddaughter, Elizabeth (Murray) Spencer.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd, 2022, at the Mulberry Senior Citizens Center, with memorial service following at 11 a.m.
