Erma June McClure

Erma June McClure, 82, of Columbus, Kansas, passed away at 7:40 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2022 at the home of her daughter.

She was born Oct. 29, 1939 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Homer and Orpha (Cox) West. She graduated from Pittsburg High School.

On Nov. 2, 1958, she was united in marriage to David Leroy McClure at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2002.

Mrs. McClure worked as a Para at Highland Elementary School in Columbus for many years.

Membership was held in the First Assembly of God Church in Columbus.

Survivors include two sons, Alan McClure and his wife, Julie of Pittsburg and Brent McClure and his wife, Vicki of Glenpool, Oklahoma; a daughter, Sandy Thompson and her husband, Scott of rural Columbus; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Kristen) McClure, Michelle McClure, Ashley (Mark) Wilhite, Erin (David) Wilhite, Danielle (Josh) Hall, Marissa (Aaron) Bigando and Zachary Thompson; and 12 great-grandchildren, Xander, Xaiden, Xyliana and Xaylah Wilhite,  Ezra and Everly Wilhite, Mason, Kadance, Timber, Gauge and Gunner Hall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David McClure, four brothers, Leroy West, Lloyd West, Mervin West, and Marvin West and two sisters, Belva Galloway and Ida May Douglas and a great-grandson, Otto David Wilhite.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m.  Tuesday June 7 at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Brent McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday June 6 at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call to sign the register book after 10:00 a.m. Monday. The family suggests memorials to the First Assembly of God Church in Columbus. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, Kansas  66762.
