Darlene Sue (Bagby) Bricker

Darlene Sue (Bagby) Bricker, 68, resided in the Pittsburg/Frontenac area and passed away on Dec. 29, 2022, from dementia/Alzheimer’s.  

Darlene was born on Sept. 21, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Francis and Elsie (Osbourn) Bagby. Darlene graduated from Pittsburg High School with some college. Darlene loved her cats and enjoyed crafting. 

She married Jerold Bricker on May 31, 1977. She leaves behind her husband Jerold, two sons: Daniel J (Joy) Bricker of Weir, Kansas, and Andrew F. Bricker of Carl Junction, Missouri, six grandchildren: Amaya, Addison, Avery, Kaitlin, Cole and Kailee. Darlene also leaves a sister that she always called sissy, Deloris M (Bagby) Castilleja of Kearney, Missouri; two brothers: Walter Leon Bagby of Kansas City, Missouri and Robert Dale (Maureen)Bagby of Tucson, Arizona. 

She was employed by the Pittsburg school district for 14 years. Some of her former students would approach her when they saw her in public, and they would yell from across the store "Mrs. Bricker" with such excitement and with big smiles. She was loved, cherished and appreciated by all. 

To Darlene, family was everything and her family was the most important thing in the world to her. Her legacy will live on through her children and her grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., one hour before the services. Interment will follow at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, Kansas. Memorials may be made to PittNaz Church or to the Alzheimer’s Research Fund.
