PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Crawford County Republican Party is hosting a roundtable discussion and fundraising dinner this weekend, which will feature current, former, and aspiring lawmakers among those on its guest list.

“Enjoy a delicious Pallucas rigatoni dinner with a freewheeling roundtable discussion between our elected officials, Crawford County Republican Party chairman Jacob Cochran and communications director Roger Lomshek,” the Crawford County Republican Party said in a promotional email for the event. “We'll also take questions from the crowd.”

Doors will open at Pallucas Event Hall in Frontenac at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per person. The event is scheduled to go until 9:30 p.m.

The event will include a legislator roundtable and question-and-answer session that will feature U.S. Rep. Jake LaTurner (R-2nd District), former Kansas Sen. Richard Hilderbrand (R-Baxter Springs), Rep. Chuck Smith (R-Pittsburg) and Rep. Ken Collins (R-Mulberry).

There will also be a Kansas Senate District 13 candidate forum featuring Tim Shallenburger, Kerri Jensen and Dan Muter, who are all running for the seat occupied by Hilderbrand until his recent resignation. Each candidate will get five minutes to talk about why they should be your senator and then field questions from the audience on their beliefs and what they hope to accomplish if elected.

This is a rare opportunity to hear from and question current, past and future legislators all in one night and one location,” the Crawford County Republican Party said in its announcement of the event.
