Charles F. Kallaus, Jr.

Charles F. (Chuck) Kallaus, Jr., passed away on January 3, 2025. He was born on March 25, 1935, in Iowa to Beulah and Charles Kallaus, Sr. He proudly served his country in the Air Force for 10 years. He married Caryl Jean Adams of Weir on February 25, 1956. She proceeded him in death on March 6, 2012. He was an auctioneer for several years and ran an auction house in Weir, Kansas. In 1978, Chuck became a United Methodist minister. He served in many churches throughout Kansas. In 1982, he and Caryl began Wesley House in Pittsburg. It was started as an outreach church of First UMC of Pittsburg. It was intended to reach those people who weren’t attracted to the traditional church. Within a couple of years, the congregation outgrew its tiny storefront beginning on east 7th street and they moved to their new location on east 12th Street. Wesley House offered many services from sewing and financial classes to Bible school in the summers. It was a thriving church with a big congregation and was a great asset to the community. In 1988, after 6 years of many, many long hours, Chuck and Caryl decided to step down from serving Wesley House and moved to another church. Chuck retired from preaching in 2007. Chuck and Caryl dedicated their lives to serving God and others.
