Carl A. Van Dorn, age 86, of Mulvane, KS, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024. He was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Lamar, MO to Harry and Hazel (Corben) VanDorn.
He graduated from Liberal High School in 1956 and worked for Woolworth in Pittsburg, KS. Carl retired after 40 years working in the Tooling department at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KS.
Carl married Margaret Bogart on July 16, 1961, in Joplin, MO. They were married for 63 years and had three children.
Carl is survived by his wife and children, Douglas (Candance) of Great Falls, MT, Sheryl (Stephen) Wolf of Derby, KS, Denise Van Dorn of Mulvane, KS and sister Marie Crank of Hutchinson, KS. Carl is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers (Harry Lee, William, Richard and Edwin Van Dorn), sister (Virginia Turner) and a grandson, Kyle Van Dorn.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held on Nov. 14, 2024, at 1 p.m. with a Masonic Funeral at graveside following. Visitation and Services will be held at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory in Wichita, KS.
In lieu of flowers, Carl’s wish was that donations be considered for the Midian Shrine’s Plane of Mercy, 130 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS 67202.
