Caiden Barber, 19, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 06, 2023. Caiden was born on May 18, 2004, to Tarah Cockrell and Romon Barber. He grew up in Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg High School, graduating in 2022.

Caiden was most known for his talents in athletics and his ability to strive for excellence. While he was involved in football, track, powerlifting, and wrestling, his love for sports began on the football field when he was three. Caiden was respectful and kind, always looking out for those who needed a little encouragement or safeguarding. Caiden started dating his girlfriend, Cassidy, in the fall of 2021. It was obvious he absolutely adored her, and they spent a lot of time doing life together. He also enjoyed spending time with his best friend Emiliano "Milli" testing the limits, getting through hard times, and as with all teenage boys, making poor decisions but good memories! Caiden was loved most by his brother Braylen, who looked up to him in everything. Caiden was so proud of Braylen, made time for him, and recently taught him how to jump rope. Caiden was loved well and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his parents Tarah Cockrell and Romon Barber of Pittsburg, KS; three brothers, Devin Nelson of Mission Viejo, CA, Braylen Cockrell and Kyson Barber of Pittsburg, KS; grandmother, Joan Hobbs-Meadows of Pittsburg, KS; and great grandmother, Jey LeCompte of Charlotte, NC.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lauren Crowe; paternal grandmother, Joline Barber; and paternal great-grandmother, Mavis Scott.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday (June 12) at the PittNaz Church in Pittsburg, KS. A Celebration of Life for Caiden will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (June 13) at Memorial Auditorium, 5th & Pine, in Pittsburg, with Pastor Kyle Rogers officiating. Memorial donations can be made to Pittsburg USD #250 Foundation for a Scholarship in Caiden's name. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
