Virginia Lynn (Friar) Westhoff

Virginia Lynn (Friar) Westhoff, 58, of Girard, died at 4:48 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, in the Freeman Hospital in Joplin.

Virginia was born May 11, 1964, in Albany, Georgia, the daughter of Robert and Judy (Childs) Friar. She moved to Coffeyville in the early 70s, and she graduated from Field Kinley High School. She attended Pittsburg State University and received her Registered Nursing degree from Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott.

Virginia married Darrell J. Westhoff on Sept. 19, 1987, at Greenbush, and they divorced.

She worked at Bank IV in Pittsburg, Barto's in Frontenac, Livingston Laser Graphics in Girard, the Service Center at Greenbush, Ward Kraft in Fort Scott, several hospitals in the area, and as an RN Nursing Home Surveyor for the State of Kansas.

Virginia enjoyed her family, fishing, and ballet. She had a deep passion for gardening, and she enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include her daughters, Audrey Rhuems and her husband, Cody, of Girard, and Tessa Westhoff and her wife, Kymbre, of Olathe; her grandsons, Tucker Rhuems and Rhett Rhuems; her parents, Bob and Judy, of Eldorado Springs, Missouri; her sister, Dawn Norfolk, and her husband, Charles, of Knoxville, Tennessee; her nephew, Christopher Norfolk; and her niece, Ashley Schetzsle.

Friends are welcome to call or visit at Audrey's home in Girard.

Memorials are suggested to the SEK Humane Society and the Girard Food Pantry, and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
