Randy Gene Campbell

Randy Gene Campbell, 71, of Pittsburg, Kansas, formerly of Birmingham, Alabama, died on Feb. 16, 2023 at Pittsburg Care and Rehab.

He was born Nov. 17, 1951 in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of Donald Gene and Dorothy Mae (Homrighous) Campbell.

Randy was a high school graduate from Pittsburg High School, class of 1970.

After high school he joined the United States Navy in 1971. He was honorably discharged in August of 1974.

Randy was a motorcycle technician for many years.

He was an avid fan of Pittsburg State football, basketball, and baseball, and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams from the sidelines.

In addition to his love of sports, Randy was also a passionate motorsports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Indy and NHRA races, and loved to ride his Honda Goldwing motorcycle on fall tours all over the U.S. He was never one to shy away from adventure, and often spoke fondly of the time he hiked the Grand Canyon.

Randy was a family man. He cared deeply for his mother and was always there to support and care for her. He was also great with kids and loved nothing more than spending time with his own family, whether it was over a shared bowl of ice cream or a family dinner.

Survivors include; his mother Dorothy Campbell of Pittsburg, Kansas, eight siblings; Janet (Jim) Steele of Pittsburg, Kansas, Don Campbell of Friendswood, Texas, Debbie (Lewis) Allen of Ozark, Missouri, Kathy Hallacy of Pittsburg, Kansas, Kenny Campbell of Pittsburg, Kansas, Tim (Suzy) Campbell of Victoria, Texas, Rhonda (Ray) Phillips of Ozark, Missouri, Glenda Campbell of Pittsburg, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Randy was preceded in death by his father; infant brother Donald Wayne Campbell, sister in law; Melodie Campbell, brother in law Sonny Hallacy.

Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 at the Christ’s Church of Oronogo, 22145 Kafir Rd., Oronogo, MO 64855.

Memorials may be made to the Pittsburg Avenue of Flags or the American Parkinson Disease Association; these may be dropped off or mailed to the funeral home, 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.
