FREDONIA, Kan. — An 18-year-old Wichita woman was killed and a Parsons woman seriously injured Monday afternoon in a crash on US-400 highway about a mile south of Fredonia, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Taylor Chrisman, 18, of Wichita was driving westbound in a 2004 Nissan Maxima when she crossed the center line for an unknown reason at about 2:43 p.m. and struck the front of a 2015 Chevy Traverse “which broke into several pieces,” according to the KHP. Both vehicles then came to rest in the eastbound ditch.

Chrisman was fatally injured in the crash, while the driver of the Traverse, 44-year-old Shelli Nyambane of Parsons, was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of suspected serious injuries, according to the KHP. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
