Lois L. Montee, 94, of Arcadia, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at the Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arma.
Mrs. Montee was born Aug. 3, 1928, at Ft. Scott, the daughter of Charles Clayton and Ida Sallee Warden. Lois was a homemaker who lived in the Arcadia area most of her life. She attended Bell, Garland, and Gish Rural Schools. She was raised in rural Bourbon County. She graduated from Ft. Scott High School. She married William "Gerald" Montee Sr. on Oct. 5, 1946, in Garland, Kansas. Mr. Montee preceded her in death April 19, 1998. She was a member of the Hannon Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Linda (John) Underwood of Arma, Carol (Larry) Fisher of Independence, Missouri, and Renee (Aaron) Simpson of Garland; three sons, Gerald Jr. (Kay) Montee of Arcadia, Gail (Felisa) Montee of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Kevin (Penny) Montee of Arcadia; twenty grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; a son, Larry Wayne Montee; a brother, Glenn Warden; and a sister, Marjorie Wrycza. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at the Hannon Freewill Baptist Church near Liberal, Missouri, with Pastor Terry Burke officiating. Burial will be at the Old Arcadia Cemetery near Arcadia. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Hannon Freewill Baptist Church prior to the funeral services. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Hannon Freewill Baptist Church.
