Josephine Serra, 97, of Frontenac, passed away on Aug. 6, 2022, at Trustwell Living Memory Care in Overland Park.
One of four children of Frank and Tracy Esposito, Josephine was born in Arma on Jan. 7, 1925. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brothers, Victor and Tom. Her husband Lloyd Copeland was killed in action during World War II, and she lost her husband, John Serra, after nearly 40 years of marriage.
Josephine is survived by her beloved daughter, Linda Widmar; son-in-law, Charles Widmar; granddaughter Kristi Widmar-Bracciano and husband, Jim Bracciano; granddaughter, Stacy Widmar; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Barbara Esposito, and their children and grandchildren.
Josephine was known for her hard work ethic, holding many jobs, but none she loved more than her career with the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, where she worked as a supervisor.
She was a talented seamstress and had a passion for landscaping and gardening. Josephine also loved to go to dances, enjoyed dining out with family and friends, and cherished all-day shopping trips with her mother, daughter, and granddaughters.
Josephine will be laid to rest at the Frontenac Cemetery following a private burial with her family.
