Jonetta F. (Jameson) Harris, 76, beloved wife, mother, and nanny, of rural Girard, passed away at her home, Monday, Oct. 28, 2024.
She was born Sept. 6, 1948, at Pittsburg, the daughter of John A. and Lauretta (Niegsch) Jameson. She attended schools in Cherokee and graduated from Southeast High School in 1966.
On June 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to Thomas “Jeff” Harris. He survives at the family home.
Jonetta spent her life as a homemaker, and loved to cook, bake, and spend time outside in her garden tending to her flowers. Many holiday dinners and pie-making days were spent at “Nanny’s” house with her family. She was an avid shopper and collector of all things, and gift-giving was one of her many love languages. Jonetta was loved by many, and never met a stranger.
In addition to her husband, Jeff, she is survived by her children, Tracy Bernot (Brent) of Cherokee, Kansas, Troy Harris of Scammon, Kansas, and Terri Jones (Kevin) of rural Pittsburg; her grandchildren, Travis Bernot (Taylor), Trent Bernot (Briston), Jake Jones (Mandy), Hannah Jones (Clay), Riley Harris, and Miranda Davis (Zach); her great-grandchildren, Jameson, Harrison, Marlee, Greyson, Hudson, and Lawson; five brothers, Richard Jameson (Linda), Dennis Jameson (Betty), Johnnie Jameson (Donna), Bruce Jameson (Cande) and Larry Jameson (Dawn) and; and three sisters, Peggy Keller (Steve), Connie Clark (Rick), and Kathy Oppliger (John); sister-in-law’s, Doris Grotheer (Neil) and Marie Callahan; and a brother-in-law, Jim Harris (Pat).
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Bryan Jameson, brother-in-law’s, Jerry Callahan, and John Harris
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Brenner Mortuary. A private family graveside service will take place in the Crocker Cemetery, south of Pittsburg at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. According to Jonetta’s wishes, she has been entrusted to Brenner Mortuary for cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
