Jewell Elaine Turner of Pittsburg passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Oct. 12, 2022.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1935, to Harold and Erma Mary (Citron) Sturgeon in Pittsburg.
Jewell was a graduate of Pittsburg High School. She worked for Boeing in Wichita and then as secretary for Westside Elementary School in Pittsburg. Jewell also volunteered as a poll worker for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her former husband Jimmie Turner, with whom she had three children; her long-time companion Gene Garman; her son Bruce Turner; and her grandson Kip Turner.
Survivors include her sister Rochelle Wilson of Manhattan, Kansas; son Greg Turner and wife of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter Denise Cannizzo and husband of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law Bonnie Turner of Joplin; grandchildren Brad Turner and Bethany Turner; three great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Brenner Mortuary. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Brenner Mortuary, with a private graveside to follow.
Memorial donations can be made to the First Christian Church Garden Sanctuary or the Church Youth Camp Fund.
