Jennie Lou (Burns) Weyant

Jennie Lou Weyant, 70, of Rose Hill, Kansas, passed away on April 24, 2022 peacefully at home after battling cancer.  

She was born on May 10, 1951 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Jennie graduated from Pittsburg State University with her BSN. She pursued a nursing career pioneering case management and community health. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family — especially celebrating the accomplishments and activities of her children and grandchildren.  

Jennie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dan of Rose Hill; daughters Dana (Steve) Fisher and Stephanie (Adam) Koenig; son Andrew; grandchildren Stephen Fisher, Jenna Fisher, Dean Koenig, and Dylan Koenig; great-grandchild Cara Lassman.  

Jennie is survived by siblings Bob Burns, Rosemary Edwards, Cheryl (Lloyd) Stolte, Paula (Kenny) Baker, and Beverly Burns (Alan McIntier); and many nieces and nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Josephine Verga Burns and brothers Chuck and John Burns. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, Derby, Kansas. A Rosary will be held on Friday, April 29, at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Parish Catholic Church in Derby, Kansas. Burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Bel Aire, Kansas.
