Jan Richard Kalusha, 83, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas of a sudden death.
Mr. Kalusha was born Nov. 4, 1940, at Arma, Kansas, the son of Frank and Betty Zafuta Kalusha. Jan was a retired cost accountant for General Motors in Kansas City, Kansas. He was raised in Arma-Pittsburg area and graduated from Arma High School in the Class of 1958. He later attended Pittsburg State University and go a degree in business administration. He was an outstanding baseball, track, football, and basketball player and received many medals. He lived in the Kansas City are most of his life. He married Nina Vasquez on Jan. 1, 2003, at Crossroads Church in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives at the home. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. Survivors include his wife Nina of the home, a son, Mark Kalusha of Lawrence, Kansas, a daughter, Jana Kalusha Mascioni of Scottsdale, Arizona, two step-children, Ron and Tim Huddleston, a brother, Kevin Kalusha of Fort Worth, Texas, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jon Kalusha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma with Father Daniel Vacca as the celebrant. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept.19, 2024 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas where the family will receive friends until 7:30 p.m. following the rosary. The family suggests memorials to Angels Among Us or the U.S.D.#246 Foundation. Memorials may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712
