Hershel "Rex" Wing

Hershel "Rex" Wing, 89, of Weir, KS, passed away on February 20, 2023, at Carrington Place Residential Care in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Rex was born on August 16, 1933 to Ralph and Flossie Wing in Elbing, Kansas.

On May 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Peggy J. Turner. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2000. In 2001, he married Lauretta Faucet. She preceded him in 2017. Rex married Virgie (Smith) Tedlock on April 14, 2018. She survives him.

Rex started his career working as a Ranch Hand, then as a Service Station attendant, before working in Aircraft Manufacturing. He then worked in the service and set-up department for a Mobile Home service until he retired.

Rex was of Methodist faith. He was a member of the Weir Saddle Club and enjoyed riding and spending time with his horses after retirement.

In addition to his wife, Virgie Wing, he is survived by three children, Teddy Wing of Weir, KS, Myra Wing of Weir, KS, and Bob Wing (Maureen) of Chardon, OH; one brother, Max Wing of Colorado; one sister, Emma Elliott of August, KS; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two wives, three sisters, Winona Stockabrand, Lola Mae Billbrey, and Pauline Foulk; a daughter-in-law, Frances Wing; a granddaughter, Sherry; two great-grandchildren, Rebeca and Richard.

No services are planned at this time. The family suggests memorials to Fresenius Kidney Care of Pittsburg. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Hosey Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
