Fred Maxwell Jr., 90, of Mindenmines, Missouri, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Mr. Maxwell was born April 13, 1932, in Coal Creek, Colorado, the son of Fred Jr. and Gladys Lasley Maxwell. Fred was a retired machinist for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 35 years. He was raised in Mindenmines, Missouri, and graduated from Mindenmines High School. He had been a resident of Mindenmines for the past 30 years. He attended the Oplis United Methodist Church and was a member of the Heart of the Heartlands Railroad Club in Carona. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Ruth M. Neitzel on Jan. 11, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma. Mrs. Maxwell survives the home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; a son, Russell J. Maxwell of Waverly, Kansas; two grandchildren, Jared and Andrea Maxwell; and cousin, Gloria Feusnei of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bruce W. Maxwell.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, at the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas, with Pastor Linda Stotler officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice.
