Evelyn Joyce Veach

Evelyn Joyce Veach, 75, of Farlington, died at 10:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in the Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas.

Joyce was born June 19, 1946 in Belleville, Kansas, a daughter of Edward and Mary Jane (Howland) Isaacson.  The family lived at rural Formoso, Kansas and Joyce attended schools in Courtland, Kansas.  She graduated from Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina, Kansas.

Joyce married Stanley R. Veach on Jan. 8, 1966 in Formoso.  Stanley survives of the home.

She worked in the Swedish American State Bank in Courtland, Kansas, the Trego Bank in Wakeeney, Kansas, and the Farmer’s State Bank in Oakley, Kansas.  Joyce and Stanley owned and operated the Montgomery Wards store in Oakley, Kansas before moving to Independence, Kansas where Joyce worked for the Independence State Bank and later in the county clerk’s office in the Montgomery County Courthouse.

Joyce was a member of the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas and she enjoyed her family, family gatherings, and sewing.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, Stanley, of Farlington, Kansas are a daughter, Becky Herlocker, and her husband, Brian, of Farlington; her grandchildren, Kensi Sweeten, Brianna Herlocker, Bethany Herlocker, Kansas; her step-grandchildren, Ashley Turner and Cody Sweeten; her step-great-granddaughter, Haley Stevens; her siblings, Erma Greenwood of Napa, Idaho, Ralph Isaacson of Safford, Arizona, Lois Walker, and her husband, Ivan, of Broomfield, Colorado, Rita Hilt, and her husband, Merlyn, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Duane Isaacson of Beloit, Kansas, and Rex Isaacson of Courtland, Kansas.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and a  daughter, Tammy Sweeten.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Dave Bycroft officiating.  Burial will be in the Farlington Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m., Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Farlington and these may be left at the funeral home at 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, KS, 66743.
