Donald Wray Kauble, 89, of Lincoln, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on Nov. 27, 1934, in Devon, Kansas, a son of Thomas and Charlcia (Morris) Kauble.

In 1948, Don was baptized in Pittsburg, Kansas, into the RLDS church. While attending Arcadia High School, he worked as a furniture mover for Dunton Furniture Company in Arcadia, Kansas, and had many happy stories about adventures with his friend David Caldwell.  Don graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. He served his country honorably as a Captain in the United States Army.  He was stationed in Georgia and South Carolina and was honorably discharged in 1968.

On Sept. 4, 1955, in Pittsburg, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Colleen Porter. This union was blessed with the gift of five children, Donald Wray II, Cynthia, Bradley, Karen, and Brian.

While his kids were growing up, Don was a Sunday school teacher, church leader, and pastor. He served as a Boy Scout leader and was also a high school science teacher for 20 years at Lincoln High School where he taught all five of his kids. When he took his family shopping he encouraged the children to spread out to different aisle and call "Marco Polo" or to call out for Mom.

After retiring from teaching, Don worked as a network manager for FEMA and was deployed to numerous areas across the US including North and South Dakota, Alaska, New York City during 9/11, Reno, New Orleans, Texas, Georgia, and St. Thomas. While in St. Thomas, at the age of 61, he received his scuba diving certification. Don was an avid turkey and deer hunter, preferring to hunt with bow and black powder and also hunting antelope in Wyoming.

He was a member of Cross Timbers Restoration Branch (JCRB) Church in Preston, Missouri.  He served as a Boonslick Regional Library Board of Trustee member for many years, including serving as president of the board.  Don had quite a sense of humor, was very "punny", and a great storyteller. He loved his God and his family and was fiercely protective of his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen Kauble of the home; children, Cynthia Kauble Kreisel and her husband Stanley of Warsaw, Missouri, Bradley Kauble and his wife Kelly of Rogersville, Missouri, Karen Kauble Malsy and her husband Hans of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Brian Kauble and his wife Christa of Sturgeon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Chad-Rick Malsy and wife Becky, Derek Kauble, and Austin Wray Kauble; and four great-grandchildren, Lexie Kauble, Kenzie Kauble, Marissa Malsy, and Lauren Malsy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Charlcia Kauble, son, Donald Wray Kauble II, and sisters, Beverly Hart and Kay Burr Kalm.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, in Sheffield Cemetery in Arcadia, Kansas.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Boonslick Regional Library in care of the Fox Funeral Home, PO Box 37, Cole Camp, MO 65325. Online condolences may be left at www.foxfuneralhomecolecampmo.com.
