Billie Dawn Messinger, 43, passed away on Nov. 21, 2022, following an illness with uterine cancer.
She was born to Lilia and Billie Blythe on Jan. 13, 1979. She lived in southeast Kansas for the majority of her life. She attended Pittsburg schools, received her GED, and attended Fort Scott Community College to attain certification as a medical office assistant.
She worked hard to provide for herself and her son. She was especially talented in customer service and was employed at various local businesses in Pittsburg and Frontenac. She brightened the lives of this community through her kind service and beautiful smile. She loved time with her son and family, sketching, traveling, and spoiling her dogs.
Billie enjoyed adventure. She lived in Houston, Texas, for a brief time at the age of 25. She loved the beach and enjoyed getting to take her son to see the ocean for the first time this year. When she knew her time on Earth would be winding down, she thoroughly enjoyed getting to attend her own Celebration of Life in May of 2022 and making memories with those she held so dearly. She was appreciative of the love and compassion shown to her and her family during this special time.
Of all Billie's interests and accomplishments, her crowning achievement and most favorite person in the whole world was her son, Malaki. He was the light of her life and the center of her world. She wanted for him and others to "remember that life is precious and there is so much to live for." She loves him dearly and wants him to find peace and joy in his life, always.
She is survived by her mother, Lilia, brother Brian Blythe, step-sister Shelley Logan, and her beloved son Malaki, age 11, of the home.
She is preceded in death by her father, Billie Blythe.
The family would like to thank Harry Hynes and Avalon Hospices, the Dream Foundation, Care to Share-Crawford County, Arma Health and Rehab, and all the friends and family that supported and sustained them during this difficult but special time.
