John Harrison retires after 42 years with Pittsburg Police Department

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg Police Department Detective John Harrison was honored with a retirement ceremony on Tuesday, May 30 to recognize his 42-year career in law enforcement, including nearly a decade with PPD. During his career, Harrison also served with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office. 

During the retirement ceremony, Harrison was presented with the department’s Meritorious Service Medal. The award is reserved for any police officer who has achieved one or more of the following: an outstanding accomplishment which has resulted in improved administration or operation; going beyond the requirements of normal police duty to contribute to a more effective and efficient police service; improving the quality of life in the community; and/or long-term honorable service to the police department.

The City of Pittsburg invited the community to help celebrate Detective Harrison on his retirement and thank him for his outstanding dedication and service.
